Alex will be putting on a bit seminar at the Birch Family Ranch in Athol, which includes a catered Taco Bar for lunch!
During the clinic, Alex will be going over the names and descriptions of bits from start to finish including their different applications and purposes. He will discuss different levels of bits, the varying materials mouthpieces are made from, as well as bit makers. The discussion will include headstalls, reins, curb straps and curb chains as well. He will explain the bits used throughout his training process, from starting colts to finished horses. This will include the application of each bit in the training process as well as how and why they are used. He will demonstrate how different bits can be used to achieve lateral flexion, bend, suppleness, and shape. This clinic will evaluate bits for all events: show horses, ranch horses, barrel horses, trails horses, etc. It will be an interactive clinic and questions are encouraged so everyone has an opportunity to learn!
